Glow In The Dark Graffiti Makes Street Art Rave-tastic
Posted by Gizmodo US Edition at 12:00 PM on April 6, 2008
Every aspiring Banksy has run into the same problem at some point in time—he or she has defaced public property beautifully, but no one wandering the area at night can see it. With the power of design brand Suck UK's glow in the dark Graffiti, however, this quandary will affect the noble street artist no more. Now every miscreant's scribbles will be admired by the general public, no matter what time it is. No word on pricing, but the product should be available soon. [Suck UK]

I like it! Especially, if you can't see the crap people write during the day.

My guess is that's it's your bog standard $8 can of Krylon Glow-in-the-Dark with a 1W (if that) LED flashlight attached. Total cost shouldn't break $14.99.
@--Tito--: If that technology existed it would be used all over the place. The closet you're going to come with this is getting a car that drives by to charge it up for 15 minutes.

Sort of a redundant product for Thomas Kinkade to buy, isn't it.

I would love this to gather the light energy during the day and then be really really bright in the night.

Fun story.
I was in a hotel room for a weekend. At the end of my trip, I packed up and turned off the lights before heading to bed. Then I noticed something. Right above the microwave, somebody had been playing with glow in the dark paint. No, not playing... because playing is far too gentle a word for someone who has painted a swastika in glow-in-the-dark paint.

What, this is gadget news because there might be a freaking LED on the can? Tagging sucks, it's destruction of property. Thumbs down to giz.

Prevents dirty walls and adds glow in the night... what's best is authorities don't have to do a cleanup and that's excellent

Will make the police line up so much easier. Just turn off the lights. The little bastard that's glowing is the one to beat about the head and shoulders.

@hedges1968: Right, and everyone knows that tagging is the only use for spraypaint right? they even mention Banksy in the friggin article, do you know who he is? do you think that his work is mindless property destruction?
@JustEaton: you said it for me.

With the amount of nuclear toxic waste we have, I wonder why this wasn't made years ago. You wouldn't need light to make it glow and think of all the toxic waste we could get rid of? Sure a lead lined can would be needed, but with some thick gloves and maybe a paper dust mask you'd be just fine...

You know, I'm a lighting designer in a theater, and glow in the dark spraypaint could be a really awesome effect on costumes or set pieces. Imagine a blackout and then trails of glowy. I, for one, am excited to see these things in stores.
